Regulations About Contaminated Fabrics

47 “And when the garment has[a] an infectious skin disease[b] on it, on a wool garment[c] or on a linen garment,[d] 48 or on woven material or on a linen fabric, or[e] on wool or on leather or on any work of leather, 49 and if the infection is yellowish green or reddish on the garment or on the leather or on the woven material or on the fabric or on any leather object,[f] it is an infectious skin disease[g] and it shall be shown to the priest. 50 And the priest shall examine the infection, and he shall confine the infected article for seven days. 51 And he shall examine the infection on the seventh day; if the infection has spread on the garment or on the woven material or on the fabric or on the leather, for any work for which the leather is used, the infection is a destructive skin disease[h]—it is unclean. 52 And he shall burn the garment or the woven material or the fabric, whether wool or linen,[i] or any leather object that has[j] the infection, because it is an infectious skin disease,[k] which is destructive—it must be burned in the fire.

53 “But[l] if the priest examines it[m] and if[n] the infection has not spread on the garment or on the woven material or on the fabric or on any leather object, 54 then[o] the priest shall command, and someone[p] shall wash that on which the infection is, and he shall confine it a second time for seven days. 55 And the priest shall examine it[q] after the infection has been washed off, and if[r] the infection has not changed its outward appearance and the infection has not spread, it is unclean; he must burn it in the fire; it is a fungus on its back or on its front. 56 But[s] if the priest examines it[t] and if[u] the infection is faded after it has been washed off, then[v] he shall tear it from the garment or from the leather or from the woven material or from the fabric. 57 And if it appears again on the garment or on the woven material or on the fabric or on any leather object, it is spreading; you[w] must burn in the fire that which has the infection in it. 58 And the garment or the woven material or the fabric or any leather object that he might wash and the infection is removed from them then[x] shall be washed a second time, and it shall be clean.”

59 This is the regulation of the infectious skin disease[y] in[z] the wool garment or the linen or the woven material or the fabric or any leather object to declare it clean or to declare it unclean.

Articles with skin disease

47 Whenever there is an infection of skin disease on clothing—on wool or linen clothing, 48 in the weaving of the linen or wool, or on a skin or skin item— 49 and the infection is greenish or reddish on the clothing, the weaving, or the skin or skin item, it is an infection of skin disease. It must be shown to the priest. 50 The priest will examine the infection and quarantine the infected item seven days. 51 On the seventh day he will examine the infection again. If the infection has spread in the clothing, the weaving, or the skin, whatever it is used for, the infection is a case of infectious skin disease; the item is unclean. 52 The priest will burn the clothing, the weaving of the wool or linen, or whatever skin item in which the infection was found, because it is an infectious skin disease; it must be burned with fire.

53 But if the priest sees that the infection has not spread in the clothing, the weaving, or on any skin item, 54 the priest will order that the infected piece be washed, and he will quarantine it for another seven days. 55 After it has been washed, if the priest sees that the infection has not changed its appearance, even though the infection has not spread, it is unclean. You must burn it with fire. It is a fungus,[a] whether it is on the inside or outside.

56 But if, after it is washed, the priest sees that the infection has faded, he will tear the infected part out of the cloth, the weaving, or the skin. 57 If it appears again in the cloth, the weaving, or any item of skin, it is starting to break out. You must burn the infected item with fire. 58 But if the infection disappears from the cloth, the weaving, or any item of skin that you washed, it must be washed again. Then it will be clean.

59 This concludes the Instruction about the infection of skin disease in a woolen or linen cloth, weaving, or any skin item, in order to declare whether it is clean or unclean.
