Judges 2:20-23
New American Standard Bible
20 (A)So the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and He said, “Because this nation has violated My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to My voice, 21 (B)I in turn will no longer drive out from them any of the nations which Joshua left when he died, 22 in order to (C)test Israel by them, whether they will keep the way of the Lord to walk in it as their fathers [a]did, or not.” 23 So the Lord allowed those nations to remain, not driving them out quickly; and He did not hand them over to Joshua.

20 The Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and He declared, “Because this nation has violated My covenant(A) that I made with their fathers(B) and disobeyed Me, 21 I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left(C) when he died.(D) 22 I did this to test Israel and to see whether they would keep the Lord’s way(E) by walking in it, as their fathers had.”(F) 23 The Lord left these nations and did not drive them out immediately. He did not hand them over to Joshua.
