Job 40:8-14
Christian Standard Bible
8 Would you really challenge my justice?
Would you declare me guilty(A) to justify yourself?(B)
9 Do you have an arm like God’s?
Can you thunder with a voice like his?
10 Adorn yourself with majesty(C) and splendor,
and clothe yourself with honor and glory.
11 Pour out your raging anger;(D)
look on every proud person and humiliate him.(E)
12 Look on every proud person and humble him;(F)
trample the wicked where they stand.[a]
13 Hide them together in the dust;
imprison them in the grave.[b]
14 Then I will confess to you
that your own right hand(G) can deliver you.(H)
Job 40:8-14
International Standard Version
8 Indeed would you annul my justice and condemn me,
just so you can claim that you’re righteous?
9 Do you have strength[a] like God?
Can you create thunder with a sound[b] like he can?”
Can You Save Yourself?
10 “When you have adorned yourself with exalted majesty,
clothed yourself with splendor and dignity,[c]
11 dispensed the fury of your anger,
made sure[d] that you have humbled every proud person,
12 stared down and subdued every proud person,
trampled the wicked right where they are,
13 buried[e] them in the dust together,
and sent them bound to that secret place,[f]
14 then I will applaud you myself!
I’ll admit that you can deliver yourself by your own efforts!”
