Job 13:28-14:6 World English Bible (WEB)

28 though I am decaying like a rotten thing,
    like a garment that is moth-eaten.

14 “Man, who is born of a woman,
    is of few days, and full of trouble.
He grows up like a flower, and is cut down.
    He also flees like a shadow, and doesn’t continue.
Do you open your eyes on such a one,
    and bring me into judgment with you?
Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean?
    Not one.
    Seeing his days are determined,
    the number of his months is with you,
    and you have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass;
Look away from him, that he may rest,
    until he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day.

Job Speaks of the Finality of Death

14 Man, who is born of woman,
Is [b]short-lived and full of turmoil.
Like a flower he comes forth and withers.
He also flees like a shadow and does not remain.
“You also open Your eyes on him
And bring [c]him into judgment with Yourself.
Who can make the clean out of the unclean?
No one!
“Since his days are determined,
The number of his months is with You;
And his limits You have [d]set so that he cannot pass.
Turn Your gaze from him that he may [e]rest,
Until he [f]fulfills his day like a hired man.
