Jeremiah 6:27-30
New American Standard Bible
27 “I have (A)made you an assayer and an examiner among My people,
So that you may know and put their way to the test.”
28 All of them are stubbornly rebellious,
(B)Going about as a slanderer;
They are (C)bronze and iron.
They are, all of them, corrupt.
29 The bellows blow fiercely,
The lead is consumed by the fire;
In vain the refining goes on,
But the (D)wicked are not [a]separated.
30 (E)They call them rejected silver,
Because the (F)Lord has rejected them.

Jeremiah 6:27-30
Common English Bible
Prophet as tester
27 I have made you a tester of metals,
to examine my people[a]
to know and prove their ways.
28 They are tin[b] and iron;
they are headstrong and rebellious.
They live to slander.
They act corruptly—every last one!
29 The bellows roar;
the lead is consumed.[c]
Yet the refining fails;
the impurities[d] remain.
30 They are called “rejected silver,”
for the Lord has rejected them.
