Jeremiah 6:27-30
Lexham English Bible
27 “I have made you an assayer among my people, a fortification,
so that you may know and put to the test their ways.[a]
28 All of them are stubborn rebels,
going about talking slander.
They are bronze and iron,
they are all behaving corruptly.
29 The bellows[b] are burned up,
lead is consumed by fire.
In vain[c] he keeps on refining,[d]
but the wicked are not torn apart.
30 They are called[e] rejected silver,
For Yahweh has rejected them.”

American Standard Version
27 I have made thee a [a]trier and a fortress among my people; that thou mayest know and try their way. 28 They are all grievous revolters, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly. 29 The bellows [b]blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in vain do they go on refining; for the wicked are not plucked away. 30 Refuse silver shall men call them, because Jehovah hath rejected them.
