A Message Concerning Kedar and the Kingdoms of Hazor

28 Concerning Kedar and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor that Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon defeated. Thus says Yahweh:

“Rise up, go up against Kedar
    and destroy the people[a] of the east.
29 They will take their tents, and their flocks,
    their tent curtains, and all their equipment,
and their camels they will carry away for themselves,
    and they will call to them, ‘Terror is from all around.’
30 Flee! Wander far away! Get down low![b]
    O inhabitants of Hazor,” declares[c] Yahweh.
“For Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has planned a plan against you.
    And he has schemed[d] a scheme[e] against you.
31 Rise up, go up against a nation which is at ease,
    living securely,”[f] declares[g] Yahweh.
There are no gates and there are no bars[h] for them,
    they dwell alone.
32 And their camels will become as plunder,
    and the multitude of their livestock as spoil.
And I will scatter to every wind those who are trimmed to the side,
    and from every side[i] I will bring their disaster,” declares[j] Yahweh.
33 “And Hazor will become as a lair of jackals,
    a waste forever;
no one will live there,
    and no son of humankind will dwell as an alien in it.”

Prophecies against Kedar and Hazor

28 About Kedar(A) and the kingdoms of Hazor, which King Nebuchadnezzar(B) of Babylon defeated, this is what the Lord says:

Rise up, attack Kedar,
and destroy the people of the east!
29 They will take their tents and their flocks
along with their tent curtains and all their equipment.
They will take their camels for themselves.
They will call out to them,
“Terror is on every side!” (C)
30 Run! Escape quickly! Lie low,
residents of Hazor—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
for King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon
has drawn up a plan against you;
he has devised a strategy against you.

31 Rise up, attack a nation at ease,
one living in security.
This is the Lord’s declaration.
They have no doors, not even a gate bar;
they live alone.(D)
32 Their camels will become plunder,
and their massive herds of cattle will become spoil.(E)
I will scatter them to the wind in every direction,
those who clip the hair on their temples;
I will bring calamity on them across all their borders.
This is the Lord’s declaration.
33 Hazor will become a jackals’ den,(F)
a desolation forever.
No one will live there;
no human being will stay in it even temporarily.(G)
