Jeremiah 38:14-16

14 And Zedekiah the king sent and made someone bring Jeremiah the prophet to him, to the third entrance that was at the temple[a] of Yahweh. And the king said to Jeremiah, “I am asking you something,[b] you must not hide anything[c] from me.” 15 And Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “If I tell you, will you not surely kill me? Besides,[d] if I advise you, you will not listen to me. 16 So Zedekiah the king swore to Jeremiah in secret, saying,[e] “As Yahweh lives,[f] who has made for us this life, I will not kill you and I will not give you into the hand of these men who are seeking your life.”

Zedekiah’s Final Meeting with Jeremiah
14 King Zedekiah sent for the prophet Jeremiah and received him at the third entrance of the Lord’s temple. The king said to Jeremiah, “I am going to ask you something; don’t hide anything from me.”
15 Jeremiah replied to Zedekiah, “If I tell you, you will kill me, won’t you? Besides, if I give you advice, you won’t listen to me anyway.”
16 King Zedekiah swore to Jeremiah in private,(A) “As the Lord lives, who has given us this life,(B) I will not kill you or hand you over to these men who intend to take your life.”
