Jeremiah 31:21-26

New International Version

²¹“Set up road signs;
    put up guideposts.^(A)
Take note of the highway,^(B)
    the road that you take.
Return,^(C) Virgin^(D) Israel,
    return to your towns.
²²How long will you wander,^(E)
    unfaithful^(F) Daughter Israel?
The Lord will create a new thing^(G) on earth—
    the woman will return to^[a]^(H) the man.”

²³This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “When I bring them back from captivity,^[b]^(I) the people in the land of Judah and in its towns will once again use these words: ‘The Lord bless^(J) you, you prosperous city,^(K) you sacred mountain.’^(L) ²⁴People will live^(M) together in Judah and all its towns—farmers and those who move about with their flocks.^(N) ²⁵I will refresh the weary^(O) and satisfy the faint.”^(P)

²⁶At this I awoke^(Q) and looked around. My sleep had been pleasant to me.

²¹“Set up roadmarks for yourself,
Place guideposts for yourself;
^(A)Direct your ^[a]mind to the highway,
The way by which you went.
^(B)Return, O virgin of Israel,
Return to these your cities.
²²How long will you waver,
You ^(C)rebellious daughter?
For the Lord has created a new thing on the earth:
A woman will shelter a man.”

²³This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: “Once again they will speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities when I ^(D)restore their fortunes,

‘The Lord bless you, O ^(E)place of righteousness,
O ^(F)holy hill!’

²⁴Judah and all its cities will ^(G)live together in it, the farmers and those who travel with flocks. ²⁵^(H)For I give plenty of water to the weary ones, and ^[b]refresh everyone who languishes.” ²⁶At this I ^(I)awoke and looked, and my ^(J)sleep had been pleasant to me.
