Then I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! Look, I do not know how to speak, for I am a youth.”[a] But Yahweh said to me, “You must not say, ‘I am a youth,’[b] for to whomever[c] I send you, you will go, and whatever[d] I command you, you will speak. Do not be afraid of them,[e] for I am with you to deliver you,” declares[f] Yahweh. Then Yahweh stretched out his hand and he touched my mouth, and Yahweh said to me,

“Look, I have put my words in your mouth.
10 See, I appoint you this day over the nations
and over the kingdoms,
to pluck up and to pull down,
and to destroy and to tear down,
to build and to plant.”

The Lord responded,
    “Don’t say, ‘I’m only a child.’
        Where I send you, you must go;
        what I tell you, you must say.
Don’t be afraid of them,
    because I’m with you to rescue you,”
        declares the Lord.
Then the Lord stretched out his hand,
    touched my mouth, and said to me,
    “I’m putting my words in your mouth.
10 This very day I appoint you over nations and empires,
    to dig up and pull down,
    to destroy and demolish,
    to build and plant.”
