The Corruption of Israel’s Rulers

All you wild animals,
    all you wild animals in the forest, come to devour!(A)
10 Israel’s[a] sentinels are blind;
    they are all without knowledge;
they are all silent dogs
    that cannot bark,
dreaming, lying down,
    loving to slumber.(B)
11 The dogs have a mighty appetite;
    they never have enough.

Unrighteous Leaders Condemned

All you animals of the field and forest,
come and eat!
10 Israel’s[a] watchmen are blind, all of them,
they know nothing;
all of them are mute dogs,

all of them turn to their own way,
every last one for his own gain.(A)
12 “Come, let me get some wine,
let’s guzzle some beer;
and tomorrow will be like today,
only far better!”(B)
