The islands(A) have seen it and fear;
    the ends of the earth(B) tremble.
They approach and come forward;
    they help each other
    and say to their companions, “Be strong!(C)
The metalworker(D) encourages the goldsmith,(E)
    and the one who smooths with the hammer
    spurs on the one who strikes the anvil.
One says of the welding, “It is good.”
    The other nails down the idol so it will not topple.(F)

“But you, Israel, my servant,(G)
    Jacob, whom I have chosen,(H)
    you descendants of Abraham(I) my friend,(J)
I took you from the ends of the earth,(K)
    from its farthest corners I called(L) you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;(M)
    I have chosen(N) you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear,(O) for I am with you;(P)
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen(Q) you and help(R) you;
    I will uphold you(S) with my righteous right hand.(T)

Each one helps the other,
    saying to one another, “Take courage!”(B)
The artisan encourages the goldsmith,
    and the one who smooths with the hammer encourages the one who strikes the anvil,
saying of the soldering, “It is good,”
    and they fasten it with nails so that it cannot be moved.(C)

saying to you, “You are my servant;
    I have chosen you and not cast you off”;(E)

    do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
    I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.(F)
