Isaiah 29:17-21
English Standard Version
17 Is it not yet a very little while
(A)until Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest?
18 In that day (B)the deaf shall hear
(C)the words of a book,
and out of their gloom and darkness
(D)the eyes of the blind shall see.
19 (E)The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord,
and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the ruthless shall come to nothing
and (F)the scoffer cease,
and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off,
21 who by a word make a man out to be an offender,
and (G)lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,
and with an empty plea (H)turn aside him who is in the right.
Isaiah 29:17-21
Holman Christian Standard Bible
17 Isn’t it true that in just a little while
Lebanon will become an orchard,
and the orchard will seem like a forest?(A)
18 On that day the deaf will hear(B)
the words of a document,
and out of a deep darkness
the eyes of the blind will see.
19 The humble will have joy
after joy in the Lord,
and the poor people will rejoice(C)
in the Holy One of Israel.(D)
20 For the ruthless one will vanish,
the scorner will disappear,(E)
and all those who lie in wait with evil intent
will be killed—
21 those who, with their speech,
accuse a person of wrongdoing,
who set a trap at the gate for the mediator,
and without cause deprive the righteous of justice.(F)
