14 Therefore, I will again confound these people
with wonder after wonder.(A)
The wisdom of their wise will vanish,(B)
and the perception of their perceptive will be hidden.

15 Woe to those who go to great lengths
to hide their plans from the Lord.(C)
They do their works in the dark,
and say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?” (D)
16 You have turned things around,
as if the potter were the same as the clay.
How can what is made say about its maker,
“He didn’t make me”?(E)
How can what is formed
say about the one who formed it,
“He doesn’t understand what he’s doing”?

    do wonderful things with this people,
    with wonder upon wonder;
and (B)the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
    and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”

15 Ah, (C)you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel,
    whose deeds are (D)in the dark,
    and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”
16 (E)You turn things upside down!
Shall the potter be regarded as the clay,
that the thing made should say of its maker,
    “He did not make me”;
or the thing formed say of him who formed it,
    “He has no understanding”?
