22 Joseph lived in Egypt, along with his father’s family.[a] Joseph lived 110 years. 23 Joseph saw the descendants of Ephraim to the third generation.[b] He also saw the children of Makir the son of Manasseh; they were given special inheritance rights by Joseph.[c]

24 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die. But God will surely come to you[d] and lead you up from this land to the land he swore on oath to give[e] to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” 25 Joseph made the sons of Israel swear an oath. He said, “God will surely come to you. Then you must carry my bones up from this place.” 26 So Joseph died at the age of 110. After[f] they embalmed him, his body[g] was placed in a coffin in Egypt.

The Death of Joseph

22 Joseph stayed in Egypt, along with all his father’s family. He lived a hundred and ten years(A) 23 and saw the third generation(B) of Ephraim’s(C) children.(D) Also the children of Makir(E) son of Manasseh(F) were placed at birth on Joseph’s knees.[a](G)

24 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die.(H) But God will surely come to your aid(I) and take you up out of this land to the land(J) he promised on oath to Abraham,(K) Isaac(L) and Jacob.”(M) 25 And Joseph made the Israelites swear an oath(N) and said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones(O) up from this place.”(P)

26 So Joseph died(Q) at the age of a hundred and ten.(R) And after they embalmed him,(S) he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.
