Genesis 41:50-52
New International Version
50 Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.(A) 51 Joseph named his firstborn(B) Manasseh[a](C) and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.” 52 The second son he named Ephraim[b](D) and said, “It is because God has made me fruitful(E) in the land of my suffering.”

50 Before the years of famine arrived, Joseph fathered two sons with Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, the priest of On. 51 Joseph named his firstborn son[a] Manasseh because, he said, “God has made me forget all of my hard life and my father’s house.” 52 He named his second son Ephraim because, he said, “God has made me fruitful in the land of my troubles.”
