And he said to me, “Son of man,[a] lift up now[b] your eyes toward the north.”[c] And I lifted up my eyes toward the north,[d] and, look, there was to the north of the gate of the altar this image of jealousy at the entrance. And he said to me, “Son of man,[e]Do you see[f] what they are doing—great detestable things that the house of Israel is committing[g] here so as to drive me from[h] my sanctuary, and yet you will see again[i] greater[j] detestable things.”

Then the Lord said to me, “Son of man, look toward the north.” So I looked, and there to the north, beside the entrance to the gate near the altar, stood the idol that had made the Lord so jealous.

“Son of man,” he said, “do you see what they are doing? Do you see the detestable sins the people of Israel are committing to drive me from my Temple? But come, and you will see even more detestable sins than these!”
