Ezekiel 44:9-14

New International Version

⁹This is what the Sovereign Lord says: No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and flesh is to enter my sanctuary, not even the foreigners who live among the Israelites.^(A)

¹⁰“‘The Levites who went far from me when Israel went astray^(B) and who wandered from me after their idols must bear the consequences of their sin.^(C) ¹¹They may serve in my sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and serving in it; they may slaughter the burnt offerings^(D) and sacrifices for the people and stand before the people and serve them.^(E) ¹²But because they served them in the presence of their idols and made the people of Israel fall^(F) into sin, therefore I have sworn with uplifted hand^(G) that they must bear the consequences of their sin, declares the Sovereign Lord.^(H) ¹³They are not to come near to serve me as priests or come near any of my holy things or my most holy offerings; they must bear the shame^(I) of their detestable practices.^(J) ¹⁴And I will appoint them to guard the temple for all the work that is to be done in it.^(K)

⁹‘This is what the Lord God says: “^(A)No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, of all the foreigners who are among the sons of Israel, shall enter My sanctuary. ¹⁰But the Levites who went far from Me when Israel went astray, who ^(B)went astray from Me ^[a]following their idols, shall ^(C)suffer the punishment for their wrongdoing. ¹¹Yet they shall be ^(D)ministers in My sanctuary, having ^(E)oversight at the gates of the house and ^(F)ministering in the house; they shall ^(G)slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall ^(H)stand before them to minister to them. ¹²Since they ministered to them ^(I)before their idols and became a ^(J)stumbling block of wrongdoing to the house of Israel, for that reason I have ^[b]^(K)sworn against them,” declares the Lord God, “that they shall ^(L)suffer the punishment for their wrongdoing. ¹³And they shall ^(M)not approach Me to serve as priests for Me, nor approach any of My holy things, to the things that are most holy; but they will ^(N)bear their shame and their abominations which they have committed. ¹⁴Nevertheless I will ^[c]appoint them ^[d]to ^(O)take responsibility for the house, of all its service and of everything that shall be done in it.
