16 And the word of Yahweh came[a] to me, saying,[b] 17 “Son of man,[c] the house of Israel, they were dwelling on their soil, and they defiled it with their way and with their deeds; like the uncleanness of menstruation was their way before me.[d] 18 And I poured out my rage on them for the blood that they poured on the land and for their idols with which they defiled it. 19 And I scattered them among the nations, and I dispersed them in the countries according to their way, and according to their deeds I judged them. 20 And they came[e] into the nations to which they went,[f] and they profaned my holy name[g] when they said to them, ‘These are the people of Yahweh, and from his land they went out.’ 21 And I was concerned for my holy name,[h] which, the house of Israel defiled among the nations to which they went.[i]

16 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 17 “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, (A)they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like (B)the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity. 18 Therefore I poured out My fury on them (C)for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it. 19 So I (D)scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them (E)according to their ways and their deeds. 20 When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they (F)profaned My holy name—when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they have gone out of His land.’ 21 But I had concern (G)for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went.
