16 And the word of Yahweh came[a] to me, saying,[b] 17 “Son of man,[c] the house of Israel, they were dwelling on their soil, and they defiled it with their way and with their deeds; like the uncleanness of menstruation was their way before me.[d] 18 And I poured out my rage on them for the blood that they poured on the land and for their idols with which they defiled it. 19 And I scattered them among the nations, and I dispersed them in the countries according to their way, and according to their deeds I judged them. 20 And they came[e] into the nations to which they went,[f] and they profaned my holy name[g] when they said to them, ‘These are the people of Yahweh, and from his land they went out.’ 21 And I was concerned for my holy name,[h] which, the house of Israel defiled among the nations to which they went.[i]

16 Again the word of the Lord came to me: 17 “Son of man, when the people of Israel were living in their own land, they defiled it by their conduct and their actions. Their conduct was like a woman’s monthly uncleanness(A) in my sight.(B) 18 So I poured out(C) my wrath on them because they had shed blood in the land and because they had defiled it with their idols. 19 I dispersed them among the nations, and they were scattered(D) through the countries; I judged them according to their conduct and their actions.(E) 20 And wherever they went among the nations they profaned(F) my holy name, for it was said of them, ‘These are the Lord’s people, and yet they had to leave his land.’(G) 21 I had concern for my holy name, which the people of Israel profaned among the nations where they had gone.(H)
