“Thus says the Lord:
(A)Those who support Egypt shall fall,
    and (B)her proud might shall come down;
(C)from Migdol to Syene
    they shall fall within her by the sword,
declares the Lord God.
(D)And they shall be desolated in the midst of desolated countries,
    and their cities shall be in the midst of cities that are laid waste.
(E)Then they will know that I am the Lord,
    when (F)I have set fire to Egypt,
    and (G)all her helpers are broken.

“On that day (H)messengers shall go out from me in ships to terrify the unsuspecting (I)people of Cush, and (J)anguish shall come upon them on the day of Egypt's doom;[a] for, behold, it comes!

The Lord proclaims:
When Egypt’s helpers fall,
    its proud strength will decline.
From Migdol to Syene
they will fall by the sword.
    This is what the Lord God says.

Of all the lands laid waste, it will be the most desolate; of all cities, the most ruined. They will know that I am the Lord. On the day that I set fire to Egypt and all its helpers are broken, messengers in ships will go out from me to startle the complacent Cushites. Anguish will overcome them on Egypt’s day. It’s certainly coming.
