28 And you, son of man,[a] prophesy, and you must say, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh to the Ammonites[b] and concerning their disgrace,’ and you must say, ‘A sword, a sword is drawn for slaughtering; it is polished for holding, for flashing like lightning,[c] 29 when seeing a false vision for you in vain, when practicing divination for you falsely, to give[d] you on the neck of the profane ones of the wicked, whose day has come,[e] the time of final punishment.[f] 30 Return it to its sheath in the place where you were created. In the land of your origin I will judge you! 31 And I will pour out my anger on you; I will blow on you with the fire of my wrath, and I will give you into the hand of brutal men, skilled craftsmen of destruction. 32 You will be as fuel for the fire; your blood will be in the midst of the earth. You will not be remembered, for I, Yahweh, I have spoken.’”

A Sword Against the Ammonites

28 “And you, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God (A)concerning the Ammonites and concerning their reproach,’ and say:

‘A sword, a sword is drawn,
Polished for slaughter,
For consuming, for flashing—
29 While they (B)see false visions for you,
While they divine a lie to you,
To bring you on the necks of the wicked, the slain
(C)Whose day has come,
Whose iniquity shall end.

30 ‘Return(D) it to its sheath.
(E)I will judge you
In the place where you were created,
(F)In the land of your [a]nativity.
31 I will (G)pour out My indignation on you;
I will (H)blow against you with the fire of My wrath,
And deliver you into the hands of brutal men who are skillful to (I)destroy.
32 You shall be fuel for the fire;
Your blood shall be in the midst of the land.
(J)You shall not be remembered,
For I the Lord have spoken.’ ”
