28 And so it was on a certain day[a] Yahweh spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt. 29 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “I am Yahweh. Speak to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, all that I am speaking to you.” 30 And Moses said before Yahweh, “Look, I am a poor speaker.[b] And how will Pharaoh listen to me?”

Yahweh Reviews Plans for Bringing the Israelites out of Egypt

And Yahweh said to Moses, “See, I have made you as a god to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother will be your prophet. You will speak all that I will command you, and Aaron your brother will speak to Pharaoh, and he will release the Israelites[c] from his land. And I myself will harden the heart of Pharaoh, and I will make my signs and my wonders numerous in the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will put my hand into Egypt and bring out my divisions, my people, the Israelites,[d] from the land of Egypt with great punishments. And the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh when I stretch out my hand over Egypt and bring the Israelites[e] out from their midst.”

And Moses and Aaron did it; as Yahweh commanded them, so they did. (And Moses was eighty years old,[f] and Aaron was eighty-three years old[g] when they spoke to Pharaoh.)

28 On the day when the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, 29 the Lord said to Moses, (A)“I am the Lord; (B)tell Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say to you.” 30 But Moses said to the Lord, “Behold, (C)I am of uncircumcised lips. How will Pharaoh listen to me?”

Moses and Aaron Before Pharaoh

And the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like (D)God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your (E)prophet. (F)You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land. But (G)I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I (H)multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and bring my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment. The Egyptians (I)shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.” Moses and Aaron did so; they did just as the Lord commanded them. Now Moses was (J)eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.
