And the Lord said unto Moses, (A)Hew thee two Tables of stone, like unto the first, and I will write upon the Tables the words that were in the first Tables, which thou brakest in pieces.

And be ready in the morning, that thou mayest come up early unto the mount of Sinai, and [a]wait there for me in the top of the mount.

But let no man come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the sheep nor cattle feed [b]before this mount.

Then Moses hewed [c]two Tables of stone like unto the first, and rose up early in the morning, and went up unto the mount of Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand two Tables of stone.

And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.

So the Lord passed before his face, and [d]cried, The Lord, the Lord, strong, merciful, and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth.

Reserving mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity, and transgression and sin, and not [e]making the wicked innocent, (B)visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon children’s children, unto the third and fourth generation.

Then Moses made haste and bowed himself to the earth, and worshipped,

And said, O Lord, I pray thee, If I have found grace in thy sight, that the Lord would now go with us ([f]for it is a stiff-necked people) and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
