“Yahweh loved you and chose you not because of your great number[a] exceeding all other peoples, for you are fewer than all of the peoples, but[b] because of[c] the love of Yahweh for you and because of his keeping of the sworn oath that he swore to your ancestors,[d] Yahweh brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. So know that Yahweh your God, he is God, the trustworthy God, maintaining his[e] covenant and his[f] loyal love with those who love him and with those who keep his commandments to a thousand generations,[g] 10 but repaying those[h] who hate him in their own person[i] to destroy them;[j] he is not slow with those who hate him in their own person;[k] he repays them.[l] 11 And so you shall keep the commandment and the rules and the regulations that I am commanding you today[m] to observe them.

“The Lord was devoted to you and chose you, not because you were more numerous than all peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands.(C) 10 But He directly pays back[a] and destroys those who hate Him.(D) He will not hesitate to directly pay back[b] the one who hates Him. 11 So keep the command—the statutes and ordinances—that I am giving you to follow today.
