I continued watching[a] until thrones were placed and an Ancient of Days sat; his clothing was like white snow and the hair of his head was like pure wool and his throne was a flame[b] of fire and its wheels[c] were burning fire. 10 A stream of fire issued forth and flowed from his presence;[d] thousands upon thousands served him and ten thousand upon ten thousand stood before him. The judge sat, and the books were opened.

11 I continued watching[e] then[f] because of the noise of the boastful words of the horn who was speaking; I continued watching[g] until the beast was slain and its body was destroyed, and it was given over to burning with fire. 12 And as for the remainder of the beasts, their dominion was taken away,[h] but a prolongation of their life[i] was given to them for a season and a time.

13 I continued watching[j] in the visions of the night, and look, with the clouds of heaven one like a son of man[k] was coming, and he came to the Ancient of Days, and was presented[l] before him. 14 And to him was given dominion and glory and kingship that[m] all the peoples, the nations, and languages would serve him; his dominion is a dominion without end[n] that will not cease, and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.

Throne of fire and the human figure

As I was watching,

        thrones were raised up.
    The ancient one took his seat.
        His clothes were white like snow;
        his hair was like a lamb’s wool.
        His throne was made of flame;
        its wheels were blazing fire.
10 A river of fire flowed out from his presence;
    thousands upon thousands served him;
        ten thousand times ten thousand stood ready to serve him!
The court sat in session; the scrolls were opened.

11 I kept watching. I watched from the moment the horn started bragging until the beast was killed and its body was destroyed, handed over to be burned with fire. 12 Then the authority of the remaining beasts was brought to an end, but they were given an extension among the living for a set time and season.

13 As I continued to watch this night vision of mine, I suddenly saw

one like a human being[a]
    coming with the heavenly clouds.
He came to the ancient one
    and was presented before him.
14 Rule, glory, and kingship were given to him;
    all peoples, nations, and languages will serve him.
His rule is an everlasting one—
    it will never pass away!—
        his kingship is indestructible.
