23 (A)Now Joab was in command of all the army of Israel; and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and the Pelethites; 24 and (B)Adoram was in charge of the forced labor; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder; 25 and Sheva was secretary; and (C)Zadok and Abiathar were priests; 26 and (D)Ira the Jairite was also David's priest.

23 Joab commanded the entire army of Israel, Jehoiada’s son Benaiah commanded the special forces[a] and mercenaries,[b] 24 Adoram supervised conscripted labor, Ahilud’s son Jehoshaphat was the recorder, 25 Sheva was secretary, Zadok and Abiathar were priests, 26 and Ira the Jairite[c] was David’s priest.
