2 Chronicles 24:20-22
New English Translation
20 God’s Spirit energized[a] Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood up before the people and said to them, “This is what God says: ‘Why are you violating the commands of the Lord? You will not be prosperous. Because you have rejected the Lord, he has rejected you!’” 21 They plotted against him and by royal decree stoned him to death in the courtyard of the Lord’s temple. 22 King Joash disregarded[b] the loyalty Zechariah’s father Jehoiada had shown him and killed Jehoiada’s[c] son. As Zechariah[d] was dying, he said, “May the Lord take notice and seek vengeance!”[e]

English Standard Version
Joash's Treachery
20 (A)Then the Spirit of God clothed Zechariah (B)the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood above the people, and said to them, “Thus says God, (C)‘Why do you break the commandments of the Lord, so that you cannot prosper? (D)Because you have forsaken the Lord, he has forsaken you.’” 21 But (E)they conspired against him, (F)and by command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the Lord. 22 Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness that Jehoiada, Zechariah's father, had shown him, but killed his son. And when he was dying, he said, “May the Lord see (G)and avenge!”[a]
