4 Then Saul said to his armor bearer,[a] “Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, so that these uncircumcised do not come and thrust me through and make a fool of me!” But his armor bearer[b] was not willing to do so because he was very afraid. So Saul took the sword and fell on it.

4 Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through,(A) or these uncircumcised(B) fellows will come and run me through and abuse me.”
But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

4 Saul groaned to his armor bearer, “Take your sword and kill me before these pagan Philistines come to run me through and taunt and torture me.”
