22 For three years Syria and Israel continued without war. (A)But in the third year (B)Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel. And the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that (C)Ramoth-gilead belongs to us, and we keep quiet and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?” And he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle at Ramoth-gilead?” And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, (D)“I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

King Ahab Invites Jehoshaphat to Invade Aram(A)

22 Three years passed without war between Aram and Israel. During that third year, King Jehoshaphat of Judah went to visit the king of Israel. The king of Israel asked his servants, “Were you aware that Ramoth-gilead belongs to us, but we aren’t doing anything to remove it from the control of the king of Aram?”

Then he asked Jehoshaphat, “Will you join me in battle against Ramoth-gilead?”

“I’m with you,” Jehoshaphat answered the king of Israel. “My army will join yours, and my cavalry will be your cavalry.”
