To Hezron’s Sons

The sons of Judah:(B)

Er, Onan and Shelah.(C) These three were born to him by a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua.(D) Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death.(E) Judah’s daughter-in-law(F) Tamar(G) bore Perez(H) and Zerah to Judah. He had five sons in all.

The sons of Perez:(I)

Hezron(J) and Hamul.

The sons of Zerah:

Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol and Darda[a]—five in all.

The son of Karmi:

Achar,[b](K) who brought trouble on Israel by violating the ban on taking devoted things.[c](L)

The son of Ethan:

Azariah.

The sons born to Hezron(M) were:

Jerahmeel, Ram and Caleb.[d]

Judah’s Descendants

Judah’s(A) sons: Er, Onan, and Shelah.(B) These three were born to him by Bath-shua the Canaanite woman. Er, Judah’s firstborn, was evil in the Lord’s sight, so He put him to death. Judah’s daughter-in-law Tamar bore Perez and Zerah to him. Judah had five sons in all.

Perez’s sons: Hezron and Hamul.
Zerah’s sons: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara[a](C)—five in all.
Carmi’s son: Achar,[b](D) who brought trouble on Israel when he was unfaithful by taking the things set apart for destruction.
Ethan’s son: Azariah.
Hezron’s sons, who were born to him: Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai.[c]
