The Death of David

26 Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27 The (A)time that he reigned over Israel was forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem. 28 Then he died (B)at a good age, (C)full of days, riches, and honor. And Solomon his son reigned in his place. 29 Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the Chronicles (D)of Samuel the seer, and in the Chronicles of (E)Nathan the prophet, and in the Chronicles of (F)Gad the seer, 30 with accounts of all his rule and his might and of the circumstances (G)that came upon him and upon Israel and upon all the kingdoms of the countries.

Summary of the Reign of King David

26 Jesse’s son David reigned as king over all of Israel, 27 serving as king over Israel for 40 years. He reigned for seven years in Hebron and for 33 in Jerusalem. 28 He died at a good old age, having lived a full life, replete with riches and honor, and with his son Solomon reigning in his place. 29 The activities of David the king are recorded in the History of Samuel the Seer,[a] in the History of Nathan the Prophet,[b] and in the History of Gad the Seer,[c] 30 including details regarding[d] his reign, his power, the circumstances that attended his life, Israel, and all of the kingdoms of the countries that surrounded him.[e]
