Isaiah 33:2-9
New International Version
2 Lord, be gracious(A) to us;
we long for you.
Be our strength(B) every morning,
our salvation(C) in time of distress.(D)
3 At the uproar of your army,(E) the peoples flee;(F)
when you rise up,(G) the nations scatter.
4 Your plunder,(H) O nations, is harvested(I) as by young locusts;(J)
like a swarm of locusts people pounce on it.
5 The Lord is exalted,(K) for he dwells on high;(L)
he will fill Zion with his justice(M) and righteousness.(N)
6 He will be the sure foundation for your times,
a rich store of salvation(O) and wisdom and knowledge;
the fear(P) of the Lord is the key to this treasure.[a](Q)
7 Look, their brave men(R) cry aloud in the streets;
the envoys(S) of peace weep bitterly.
8 The highways are deserted,
no travelers(T) are on the roads.(U)
The treaty is broken,(V)
its witnesses[b] are despised,
no one is respected.
9 The land dries up(W) and wastes away,
Lebanon(X) is ashamed and withers;(Y)
Sharon(Z) is like the Arabah,
and Bashan(AA) and Carmel(AB) drop their leaves.
