Polluted Offerings to God

1 The ^[a]burden of the word of the Lord to Israel ^[b]by Malachi.

Israel Beloved of God

²“I^(A) have loved you,” says the Lord.
“Yet you say, ‘In what way have You loved us?’
Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?”
Says the Lord.
“Yet ^(B)Jacob I have loved;
³But Esau I have hated,
And ^(C)laid waste his mountains and his heritage
For the jackals of the wilderness.”

⁴Even though Edom has said,
“We have been impoverished,
But we will return and build the desolate places,”

Thus says the Lord of hosts:

“They may build, but I will ^(D)throw down;
They shall be called the Territory of Wickedness,
And the people against whom the Lord will have indignation forever.
⁵Your eyes shall see,
And you shall say,
^(E)‘The Lord is magnified beyond the border of Israel.’

Polluted Offerings

⁶“A son ^(F)honors his father,
And a servant his master.
^(G)If then I am the Father,
Where is My honor?
And if I am a Master,
Where is My reverence?
Says the Lord of hosts
To you priests who despise My name.
^(H)Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’

⁷“You offer ^(I)defiled food on My altar,
But say,
‘In what way have we defiled You?’
By saying,
^(J)‘The table of the Lord is ^[c]contemptible.’
⁸And ^(K)when you offer the blind as a sacrifice,
Is it not evil?
And when you offer the lame and sick,
Is it not evil?
Offer it then to your governor!
Would he be pleased with you?
Would he ^(L)accept^[d] you favorably?”
Says the Lord of hosts.

⁹“But now entreat God’s favor,
That He may be gracious to us.
^(M)While this is being done by your hands,
Will He accept you favorably?”
Says the Lord of hosts.
¹⁰“Who is there even among you who would shut the doors,
^(N)So that you would not kindle fire on My altar in vain?
I have no pleasure in you,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
^(O)“Nor will I accept an offering from your hands.
¹¹For ^(P)from the rising of the sun, even to its going down,
My name shall be great ^(Q)among the Gentiles;
^(R)In every place ^(S)incense shall be offered to My name,
And a pure offering;
^(T)For My name shall be great among the nations,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

¹²“But you profane it,
In that you say,
^(U)‘The table of the ^[e]Lord is defiled;
And its fruit, its food, is contemptible.’
¹³You also say,
‘Oh, what a ^(V)weariness!’
And you sneer at it,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
“And you bring the stolen, the lame, and the sick;
Thus you bring an offering!
^(W)Should I accept this from your hand?”
Says the Lord.
¹⁴“But cursed be ^(X)the deceiver
Who has in his flock a male,
And takes a vow,
But sacrifices to the Lord ^(Y)what is blemished—
For ^(Z)I am a great King,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“And My name is to be feared among the nations.

Christ on a White Horse

¹¹^(A)Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, ^(B)a white horse. And He who sat on him was called ^(C)Faithful and True, and ^(D)in righteousness He judges and makes war. ¹²^(E)His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. ^(F)He ^[a]had a name written that no one knew except Himself. ¹³^(G)He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called ^(H)The Word of God. ¹⁴^(I)And the armies in heaven, ^(J)clothed in ^[b]fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. ¹⁵Now ^(K)out of His mouth goes a ^[c]sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And ^(L)He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. ^(M)He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. ¹⁶And ^(N)He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

^(O)KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.

The Beast and His Armies Defeated

¹⁷Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, ^(P)“Come and gather together for the ^[d]supper of the great God, ¹⁸^(Q)that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, ^[e]free and slave, both small and great.”

¹⁹^(R)And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. ²⁰^(S)Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and ^(T)those who worshiped his image. ^(U)These two were cast alive into the lake of fire ^(V)burning with brimstone. ²¹And the rest ^(W)were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. ^(X)And all the birds ^(Y)were filled with their flesh.
