³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

³¹ Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended in me this night: for it is written, ^[a]I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. ³² But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee. ³³ But Peter answered and said unto him, If all shall be ^[b]offended in thee, I will never be ^[c]offended. ³⁴ Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. ³⁵ Peter saith unto him, Even if I must die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

²⁷ And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be ^[a]offended: for it is written, ^[b]I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered abroad. ²⁸ Howbeit, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee. ²⁹ But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be ^[c]offended, yet will not I. ³⁰ And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that thou to-day, even this night, before the cock crow twice, shalt deny me thrice. ³¹ But he spake exceeding vehemently, If I must die with thee, I will not deny thee. And in like manner also said they all.

³¹ Simon, Simon, behold, Satan ^[a]asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat: ³² but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren. ³³ And he said unto him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and to death. ³⁴ And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, until thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

³⁶ Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow afterwards. ³⁷ Peter saith unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee even now? I will lay down my life for thee. ³⁸ Jesus answereth, Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
