16 The Spirit Himself (A)testifies with our spirit that we are (B)children of God, 17 and if children, (C)heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (D)if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (E)are not worthy to be compared with the (F)glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the (G)eagerly awaiting creation waits for (H)the revealing of the (I)sons and daughters of God. 20 For the creation (J)was subjected to (K)futility, not willingly, but (L)because of Him who subjected it, [a]in hope 21 that (M)the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation (N)groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. 23 (O)And not only that, but also we ourselves, having (P)the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves (Q)groan within ourselves, (R)waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons and daughters, (S)the redemption of our body. 24 For (T)in hope we have been saved, but (U)hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? 25 But (V)if we hope for what we do not see, through perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Our Victory in Christ

26 Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for (W)we do not know what to pray for as we should, but (X)the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with [b]groanings too deep for words;

16 (A)The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then (B)heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (C)provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Future Glory

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (D)are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for (E)the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation (F)was subjected to futility, not willingly, but (G)because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that (H)the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that (I)the whole creation (J)has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have (K)the firstfruits of the Spirit, (L)groan inwardly as (M)we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, (N)the redemption of our bodies. 24 For (O)in this hope we were saved. Now (P)hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we (Q)wait for it with patience.

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For (R)we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but (S)the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
