16 The Spirit Himself (A)testifies with our spirit that we are (B)children of God, 17 and if children, (C)heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (D)if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (E)are not worthy to be compared with the (F)glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the (G)eagerly awaiting creation waits for (H)the revealing of the (I)sons and daughters of God. 20 For the creation (J)was subjected to (K)futility, not willingly, but (L)because of Him who subjected it, [a]in hope 21 that (M)the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation (N)groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

Present Suffering and Future Glory

18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.(F) 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God(G) to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it,(H) in hope 21 that[a] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay(I) and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.(J)

22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning(K) as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
