28 For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly,(A) and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh. 29 On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly,(B) and circumcision is of the heart—by the Spirit, not the letter.[a](C) That man’s praise[b] is not from men but from God.(D)

Paul Answers an Objection

So what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the benefit of circumcision? Considerable in every way. First, they were entrusted(E) with the spoken words of God.(F) What then? If some did not believe,(G) will their unbelief cancel God’s faithfulness? Absolutely not!(H) God must be true, even if everyone is a liar,(I) as it is written:

That You may be justified in Your words
and triumph when You judge.(J)[c]

“So that you may be proved right when you speak
    and prevail when you judge.”[a](M)
