Let Us Sing Songs of Praise

95 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
    let us (A)make a joyful noise to (B)the rock of our salvation!
Let us (C)come into his presence with thanksgiving;
    let us (D)make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is (E)a great God,
    and a great King (F)above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
    the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for (G)he made it,
    and his hands formed (H)the dry land.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
    let us (I)kneel before the Lord, our (J)Maker!
For he is our (K)God,
    and we are the people of his (L)pasture,
    and the sheep of his hand.
(M)Today, if you (N)hear his voice,
    (O)do not harden your hearts, as at (P)Meribah,
    as on the day at (Q)Massah in the wilderness,
when your fathers put me to the (R)test
    and put me to the proof, though they had seen my (S)work.
10 (T)For forty years I loathed that generation
    and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart,
    and they have not known (U)my ways.”
11 Therefore I (V)swore in my wrath,
    “They shall not enter (W)my rest.”

Worship in the Splendour of Holiness

96 (X)Oh sing to the Lord (Y)a new song;
    sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
    (Z)tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvellous works among all the peoples!
For (AA)great is the Lord, and (AB)greatly to be praised;
    he is to be feared above (AC)all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
    but the Lord (AD)made the heavens.
Splendour and majesty are before him;
    (AE)strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Ascribe to the Lord, O (AF)families of the peoples,
    (AG)ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
Ascribe to the Lord (AH)the glory due his name;
    bring (AI)an offering, and (AJ)come into his courts!
Worship the Lord in (AK)the splendour of holiness;[a]
    (AL)tremble before him, all the earth!
10 Say among the nations, (AM)“The Lord reigns!
    Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
    he will (AN)judge the peoples with equity.”
11 Let (AO)the heavens be glad, and let (AP)the earth rejoice;
    let (AQ)the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12     let (AR)the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all (AS)the trees of the forest sing for joy
13     before the Lord, for he comes,
    for he comes (AT)to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
    and the peoples in his faithfulness.

The Lord Reigns

97 (AU)The Lord reigns, (AV)let the earth rejoice;
    let the many (AW)coastlands be glad!
(AX)Clouds and thick darkness are all round him;
    (AY)righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
(AZ)Fire goes before him
    and burns up his adversaries all round.
His (BA)lightnings light up the world;
    the earth sees and (BB)trembles.
The mountains (BC)melt like (BD)wax before the Lord,
    before (BE)the Lord of all the earth.
(BF)The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
    and all (BG)the peoples see his glory.
All worshippers of images are (BH)put to shame,
    who make their boast in (BI)worthless idols;
    (BJ)worship him, all you gods!
Zion hears and (BK)is glad,
    and the daughters of Judah rejoice,
    because of your judgements, O Lord.
For you, O Lord, are (BL)most high over all the earth;
    you are exalted far above (BM)all gods.
10 O you who love the Lord, (BN)hate evil!
    He (BO)preserves the lives of his (BP)saints;
    he (BQ)delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 (BR)Light (BS)is sown[b] for the righteous,
    and joy for the upright in heart.
12 (BT)Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
    and (BU)give thanks to his holy name!
