^18 (A)The Lord is near ^(B)to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as ^[a]have a contrite spirit.

^3 [a]Defend the poor and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and ^(A)needy.
⁴ Deliver the poor and needy;
Free them from the hand of the wicked.

²⁸ Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He brings them out of their distresses.
