祈求上帝保护
可拉后裔作的训诲诗，交给乐长。
44 上帝啊，
我们亲耳听过祖先讲述你在古时，
在我们祖先时代的作为。
2 你亲手赶出外族，
把我们的祖先安置在那里；
你击溃列邦，
使我们的祖先兴旺发达。
3 他们不是靠自己的刀剑征服那里，
不是靠自己的臂膀得胜，
而是靠你的权能、力量和恩惠，
因为你爱他们。
4 你是我的君王，我的上帝；
你让雅各得胜。
5 我们靠你击退敌人，
靠你的名践踏仇敌。
6 我不倚靠我的弓，
我的剑不能使我得胜。
7 只有你使我们战胜敌人，
使我们的仇敌蒙羞。
8 上帝啊，我们终日以你为荣，
我们永远赞美你。（细拉）
9 现在你却丢弃我们，
让我们受辱，
不再帮我们的军队作战。
10 你使我们在仇敌面前败退，
遭敌人掳掠。
11 你使我们如被宰杀的羊，
将我们分散在列国。
12 你把我们廉价卖掉，
视我们一文不值。
13 你使我们遭四邻辱骂，
被周围人讥讽、嘲笑。
14 你使我们成为列国的笑柄，
人们对我们连连摇头。
15 我终日受辱，满面羞愧，
16 因为咒骂和毁谤我的人讥笑我，仇敌报复我。
17 虽然这一切临到我们身上，
我们却没有忘记你，
也没有违背你的约。
18 我们对你没有异心，
也没有偏离你的道路。
19 你在豺狼出没的地方压碎我们，
使死亡的阴影笼罩我们。
20 倘若我们忘记我们的上帝，
或举手向外邦的神明祷告，
21 上帝怎会不知道呢？
祂洞悉人心中的秘密。
22 为了你，我们终日出生入死，
被视为待宰的羊。
23 主啊，求你醒来，
你为何沉睡？
求你起来，不要永远丢弃我们。
24 你为何掩面不理我们，
不理会我们所受的苦难和压迫？
25 我们扑倒在地，横卧在尘土中。
26 求你起来帮助我们，
施慈爱救赎我们。

Psalm 44
1 Een lied voor de Korachieten,[a] om iets van te leren. Voor de leider van het koor.
2 God, we hebben het zelf gehoord.
Onze vaders hebben het ons verteld:
U heeft vroeger geweldige dingen voor hen gedaan.
3 U heeft Zelf volken uit hun eigen land weggejaagd
om onze voorouders daar een plaats te geven.
U heeft andere volken vernietigd,
en ons volk steeds groter gemaakt.
4 Niet met hun wapens hebben ze dit land veroverd.
Niet hun eigen kracht heeft hen geholpen.
Maar úw handen en úw kracht en úw liefde hebben dat gedaan,
omdat U van hen houdt.
5 U bent mijn Koning, God.
Red alstublieft uw volk.
6 Met úw hulp overwinnen we onze vijanden.
Met úw hulp slaan we hen neer.
7 Want ik vertrouw niet op mijn boog.
Mijn zwaard kan mij niet redden.
8 Ú redt ons van onze vijanden. Ú zorgt ervoor dat de mensen die ons haten
voor schut komen te staan.
9 We prijzen U de hele dag.
Voor altijd zijn wij blij met U.
10 Toch heeft U ons nu niet willen helpen.
We staan voor schut.
Want U heeft ons leger niet aangevoerd.
11 We hebben voor onze vijanden moeten vluchten.
Ze hebben ons geplunderd.
Ze namen mee wat ze maar wilden.
12 U heeft ons verhandeld als schapen die geslacht gaan worden.
U heeft ons verspreid onder andere volken.
13 U heeft ons verkocht voor een belachelijk lage prijs.
U bent er niet rijk van geworden.
14 U heeft ons voor schut gezet.
Onze buurlanden lachen ons uit.
15 Ze maken grappen over ons.
Ze schudden spottend hun hoofd.
16 De hele dag door kan ik aan niets anders denken.
Ik schaam me verschrikkelijk.
17 De hele dag beledigen ze mij.
Aldoor zijn ze uit op wraak.
18 Ook al is ons dit allemaal overkomen,
tóch zijn we U niet vergeten.
Tóch blijven we vasthouden aan uw verbond met ons.
19 We blijven op U vertrouwen.
We blijven de weg volgen die U ons heeft gewezen.
20 Waarom heeft U ons dan verlaten,
ons achtergelaten tussen de wilde dieren?
Waarom laat U ons in het donker ronddwalen?
21 Als we onze God vergeten zouden zijn,
en vreemde goden zouden hebben aanbeden,
22 dan zou U dat toch weten?
Want U weet alles van ons.
23 Maar omdat we op U vertrouwen,
is ons leven de hele dag in gevaar.
We worden behandeld als schapen die geslacht gaan worden.
24 Word wakker, Heer! Waarom slaapt U?
Sta op, Heer! Laat ons niet voor altijd in de steek!
25 Waarom blijft U op een afstand?
Ziet U onze ellende en moeilijkheden dan niet?
26 Hulpeloos liggen we in het stof.
Het is alsof we nooit meer zullen kunnen opstaan.
27 Kom ons helpen!
Red ons alstublieft, omdat U goed en liefdevol bent!

- Psalmen 44:1 De familie van Korach was één van de families uit de stam van Levi die dienst deden bij het heiligdom van de Heer. De Korachieten werkten daar als poortwachters en zangers.

King James Version
44 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
2 How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
9 But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.
10 Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
11 Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
14 Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.
17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
19 Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.
