67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.
69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.
70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.
71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Confirming One’s Calling and Election

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;(I) 6 and to knowledge, self-control;(J) and to self-control, perseverance;(K) and to perseverance, godliness;(L) 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.(M) 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive(N) in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.(O) 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind,(P) forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.(Q)
