2 Mwen mete de moun reskonsab pou gouvènen lavil Jerizalèm lan. Se te Anani, frè mwen an, ak Ananya, kòmandan gwo fò a. Ananya sa a te yon nonm serye ki te gen krentif pou Bondye. Pa t' gen tankou l'.

3 Mwen di yo pa kite yo louvri pòtay lavil Jerizalèm yo nan maten toutotan solèy la pa konmanse cho. Konsa tou, aswè se devan yo pou yo fè fèmen batan pòtay yo epi pou yo mete ba yo dèyè pòtay yo anvan gad yo leve pòs le solèy pral kouche. Y'a chwazi kèk moun nan moun ki rete lavil Jerizalèm yo, yon seri pou fè pòs sou miray la, yon lòt pou fè patwouy bò lakay yo.

4 Lavil la te gran anpil, te gen anpil espas, men pa t' gen anpil moun ki t'ap viv ladan l'. Yo pa t' ankò rebati anpil kay.

5 ¶ Bondye mete nan tèt mwen lide pou m' sanble tout pèp la ak chèf yo, majistra yo, pou m' fè yon resansman, fanmi pa fanmi. N' al tonbe sou ansyen rejis resansman premye moun ki te tounen nan peyi a. Nan rejis sa a m' te jwenn

6 lis moun ki te kite pwovens Babilòn pou yo tounen lavil Jerizalèm ak nan peyi Jida, chak moun nan lavil kote yo te moun. Se moun sa yo wa Nèbikadneza te fè depòte nan peyi Babilòn.

63 Konsa tou, pami prèt yo te gen moun fanmi Obaja, Akòs ak Bazilayi. Zansèt moun Bazilayi sa yo te marye ak yon fanm nan fanmi Bazilayi, moun Galarad. Se konsa yo te pran non papa manman yo.

66 Antou nèt, te gen karanndemil twasanswasant (42.360) moun ki tounen soti nan peyi kote yo te depòte yo a.

67 Avèk yo te gen sètmil twasantrannsèt (7.337) gason ak fanm ki te sèvi yo domestik. Te gen tou desan (200) gason ak fanm ki te konn fè mizik ak konn chante.

68 Te gen sètsanswasannsis (766) chwal, desankarannsenk (245) milèt,

69 katsantrannsenk (435) chamo ak simil sètsanven (6.720) bourik.

70 Te gen kèk chèf ki te fè ofrann pa yo pou travay la san pesonn pa fòse yo. Gouvènè a te bay pou mete nan kès la desanswasanndis (270) ons lò, senkant gwo plat pou sèvis, senksantrant (530) rad pou prèt yo mete sou yo ak onzmil sisankatreventrèz (11.693) ons ajan.

71 Chèf fanmi yo te bay pou mete nan kès la pou fè travay la: senkmil katsan (5.400) ons lò ak senkanteyenmil katsansenkant (51.450) ons ajan.

72 Rès moun pèp la te fè anpil kado tou. Antou, yo te bay senkmil katsan (5.400) ons lò, karannsimil sètsanswasanndis (46.770) ons ajan ak swasannsèt rad pou prèt yo.

New International Version

7 After the wall had been rebuilt and I had set the doors in place, the gatekeepers,(A) the musicians(B) and the Levites(C) were appointed. 2 I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani,(D) along with Hananiah(E) the commander of the citadel,(F) because he was a man of integrity and feared(G) God more than most people do. 3 I said to them, “The gates of Jerusalem are not to be opened until the sun is hot. While the gatekeepers are still on duty, have them shut the doors and bar them. Also appoint residents of Jerusalem as guards, some at their posts and some near their own houses.”

The List of the Exiles Who Returned(H)

4 Now the city was large and spacious, but there were few people in it,(I) and the houses had not yet been rebuilt. 5 So my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles, the officials and the common people for registration by families. I found the genealogical record of those who had been the first to return. This is what I found written there:

6 These are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles(J) whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken captive (they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town, 7 in company with Zerubbabel,(K) Joshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum and Baanah):

Hobaiah, Hakkoz and Barzillai (a man who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by that name).

64 These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. 65 The governor, therefore, ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there should be a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.(X)

66 The whole company numbered 42,360, 67 besides their 7,337 male and female slaves; and they also had 245 male and female singers. 68 There were 736 horses, 245 mules,[a] 69 435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.

70 Some of the heads of the families contributed to the work. The governor gave to the treasury 1,000 darics[b] of gold, 50 bowls and 530 garments for priests. 71 Some of the heads of the families(Y) gave to the treasury for the work 20,000 darics[c] of gold and 2,200 minas[d] of silver. 72 The total given by the rest of the people was 20,000 darics of gold, 2,000 minas[e] of silver and 67 garments for priests.(Z)

73 The priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the musicians and the temple servants,(AA) along with certain of the people and the rest of the Israelites, settled in their own towns.(AB)
