Matthew 11:15-19
English Standard Version
15 (A)He who has ears to hear,[a] let him hear.
16 “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates,
17 “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’
18 For John came (B)neither eating (C)nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came (D)eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, (E)a friend of (F)tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”[b]

“‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’
33 For John the Baptist has come (A)eating no bread and (B)drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man has come (C)eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, (D)a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ 35 Yet (E)wisdom is justified by all her children.”
