Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem
11 When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples 2 and said to them, ‘Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it. 3 If anyone says to you, “Why are you doing this?” just say this, “The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.”’ 4 They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it, 5 some of the bystanders said to them, ‘What are you doing, untying the colt?’ 6 They told them what Jesus had said; and they allowed them to take it. 7 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. 9 Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,
‘Hosanna!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!’
11 Then he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple; and when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
Jesus Curses the Fig Tree
12 On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see whether perhaps he would find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 He said to it, ‘May no one ever eat fruit from you again.’ And his disciples heard it.
Jesus Cleanses the Temple
15 Then they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling and those who were buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold doves; 16 and he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. 17 He was teaching and saying, ‘Is it not written,
“My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations”?
But you have made it a den of robbers.’
18 And when the chief priests and the scribes heard it, they kept looking for a way to kill him; for they were afraid of him, because the whole crowd was spellbound by his teaching. 19 And when evening came, Jesus and his disciples[a] went out of the city.
The Lesson from the Withered Fig Tree
20 In the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. 21 Then Peter remembered and said to him, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.’ 22 Jesus answered them, ‘Have[b] faith in God. 23 Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, “Be taken up and thrown into the sea”, and if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. 24 So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received[c] it, and it will be yours.
25 ‘Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.’[d]
Jesus’ Authority Is Questioned
27 Again they came to Jerusalem. As he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him 28 and said, ‘By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority to do them?’ 29 Jesus said to them, ‘I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30 Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin? Answer me.’ 31 They argued with one another, ‘If we say, “From heaven”, he will say, “Why then did you not believe him?” 32 But shall we say, “Of human origin”?’—they were afraid of the crowd, for all regarded John as truly a prophet. 33 So they answered Jesus, ‘We do not know.’ And Jesus said to them, ‘Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.’

Entrée triomphale de Jésus à Jérusalem
11 Lorsqu'ils approchèrent de Jérusalem, près de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, vers le mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux de ses disciples 2 en leur disant: «Allez au village qui est devant vous. Dès que vous y serez entrés, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, sur lequel personne n'est encore monté. Détachez-le et amenez-le. 3 Si quelqu'un vous demande: ‘Pourquoi faites-vous cela?’ répondez: ‘Le Seigneur en a besoin’, et à l'instant il le laissera venir ici.»
4 Les disciples partirent; ils trouvèrent l'ânon attaché dehors près d'une porte, dans la rue, et ils le détachèrent. 5 Quelques-uns de ceux qui étaient là leur dirent: «Que faites-vous? Pourquoi détachez-vous cet ânon?» 6 Ils répondirent comme Jésus le leur avait dit, et on les laissa faire. 7 Ils amenèrent l'ânon à Jésus, jetèrent leurs vêtements sur lui, et Jésus s'assit dessus. 8 Beaucoup de gens étendirent leurs vêtements sur le chemin, et d'autres des branches qu'ils coupèrent dans les champs. 9 Ceux qui précédaient et ceux qui suivaient Jésus criaient: «Hosanna![a] Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur![b] 10 Béni soit le règne qui vient [au nom du Seigneur], le règne de David, notre père! Hosanna dans les lieux très hauts!»
11 Jésus entra à Jérusalem et se rendit au temple. Après avoir tout regardé autour de lui, comme il était déjà tard, il sortit pour aller à Béthanie avec les douze.
Jésus dans le temple
12 Le lendemain, comme ils quittaient Béthanie, Jésus eut faim. 13 Il aperçut de loin un figuier qui avait des feuilles et alla voir s'il y trouverait quelque chose, mais quand il se fut approché, il ne trouva que des feuilles, car ce n'était pas la saison des figues. 14 Alors Jésus prit la parole et lui dit: «Que plus jamais personne ne mange de ton fruit!» Et ses disciples l'entendirent.
15 Ils arrivèrent à Jérusalem, et Jésus entra dans le temple. Il se mit à chasser ceux qui vendaient et qui achetaient dans le temple, et il renversa les tables des changeurs de monnaie et les sièges des vendeurs de pigeons. 16 Il ne laissait personne transporter un objet à travers le temple 17 et il les enseignait en disant: «N'est-il pas écrit: Mon temple sera appelé une maison de prière pour toutes les nations[c]? Mais vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs[d].» 18 Les chefs des prêtres et les spécialistes de la loi l'entendirent, et ils cherchaient les moyens de le faire mourir; ils le redoutaient en effet, parce que toute la foule était frappée par son enseignement. 19 Le soir venu, Jésus sortit de la ville.
20 Le lendemain matin, en passant, les disciples virent le figuier: il était desséché jusqu'aux racines. 21 Se rappelant ce qui s'était passé, Pierre dit à Jésus: «Maître, regarde, le figuier que tu as maudit est desséché.» 22 Jésus leur dit alors: «Ayez foi en Dieu. 23 Je vous le dis en vérité, si quelqu'un dit à cette montagne: ‘Retire-toi de là et jette-toi dans la mer’, et s'il ne doute pas dans son cœur mais croit que ce qu'il dit arrive, il le verra s'accomplir. 24 C'est pourquoi je vous le dis: tout ce que vous demanderez en priant, croyez que vous l'avez reçu et cela vous sera accordé. 25 Et lorsque vous êtes debout pour prier, si vous avez quelque chose contre quelqu'un, pardonnez-lui afin que votre Père céleste vous pardonne aussi vos fautes. 26 [Mais si vous ne pardonnez pas, votre Père céleste ne vous pardonnera pas non plus vos fautes.]»
27 Ils se rendirent de nouveau à Jérusalem et, pendant que Jésus se promenait dans le temple, les chefs des prêtres, les spécialistes de la loi et les anciens vinrent vers lui 28 et lui dirent: «Par quelle autorité fais-tu ces choses et qui t'a donné l'autorité de les faire?» 29 Jésus leur répondit: «Je vous poserai [moi aussi] une question; répondez-moi, et je vous dirai par quelle autorité je fais ces choses. 30 Le baptême de Jean venait-il du ciel ou des hommes? Répondez-moi.» 31 Mais ils raisonnèrent ainsi entre eux: «Si nous répondons: ‘Du ciel’, il dira: ‘Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas cru en lui?’ 32 Et si nous répondons: ‘Des hommes…’» Ils redoutaient les réactions du peuple, car tous considéraient réellement Jean comme un prophète. 33 Alors ils répondirent à Jésus: «Nous ne savons pas.» Jésus leur répondit: «Moi non plus, je ne vous dirai pas par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.»

11 Und als sie sich Jerusalem näherten und nach Bethphage und Bethanien an den Ölberg kamen, sandte er zwei seiner Jünger
2 und sprach zu ihnen: Geht in das Dorf, das vor euch liegt, und sobald ihr dort hineinkommt, werdet ihr ein Füllen angebunden finden, auf dem nie ein Mensch gesessen hat; bindet es los und führt es her!
3 Und wenn jemand zu euch sagt: Warum tut ihr das?, so sprecht: Der Herr braucht es!, so wird er es sogleich hierher senden.
4 Sie aber gingen hin und fanden das Füllen angebunden an dem Tor draußen am Scheideweg und banden es los.
5 Und etliche der Umstehenden sprachen zu ihnen: Was macht ihr da, dass ihr das Füllen losbindet?
6 Sie aber redeten zu ihnen, wie Jesus befohlen hatte, und sie ließen es ihnen.
7 Und sie führten das Füllen zu Jesus und legten ihre Kleider darauf, und er setzte sich darauf.
8 Da breiteten viele ihre Kleider aus auf dem Weg, andere aber hieben Zweige von den Bäumen und streuten sie auf den Weg.
9 Und die vorausgingen und die nachfolgten, riefen und sprachen: »Hosianna! Gepriesen sei der, welcher kommt im Namen des Herrn!«[a]
10 Gepriesen sei das Reich unseres Vaters David, das kommt im Namen des Herrn! Hosianna in der Höhe!
11 Und Jesus zog ein in Jerusalem und in den Tempel. Und nachdem er alles betrachtet hatte, ging er, da die Stunde schon vorgerückt war, mit den Zwölfen hinaus nach Bethanien.
Der unfruchtbare Feigenbaum. Die zweite Tempelreinigung. Die Macht des Glaubens
12 Und als sie am folgenden Tag Bethanien verließen, hatte er Hunger.
13 Und als er von fern einen Feigenbaum sah, der Blätter hatte, ging er hin, ob er etwas daran finden würde. Und als er zu ihm kam, fand er nichts als Blätter; denn es war nicht die Zeit der Feigen.[b]
14 Und Jesus begann und sprach zu ihm: Es esse in Ewigkeit niemand mehr eine Frucht von dir! Und seine Jünger hörten es.
15 Und sie kamen nach Jerusalem. Und Jesus ging in den Tempel und begann die hinauszutreiben, die im Tempel verkauften und kauften; und er stieß die Tische der Wechsler um und die Stühle der Taubenverkäufer.
16 Und er ließ nicht zu, dass jemand ein Gerät durch den Tempel trug.
17 Und er lehrte und sprach zu ihnen: Steht nicht geschrieben: »Mein Haus soll ein Bethaus für alle Völker genannt werden«?[c] Ihr aber habt eine Räuberhöhle daraus gemacht!
18 Und die Schriftgelehrten und die obersten Priester hörten es und suchten, wie sie ihn umbringen könnten; denn sie fürchteten ihn, weil die ganze Volksmenge über seine Lehre staunte.
19 Und als es Abend geworden war, ging er aus der Stadt hinaus.
20 Und als sie am Morgen vorbeikamen, sahen sie, dass der Feigenbaum von den Wurzeln an verdorrt war.
21 Und Petrus erinnerte sich und sprach zu ihm: Rabbi, siehe, der Feigenbaum, den du verflucht hast, ist verdorrt!
22 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Habt Glauben an Gott!
23 Denn wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn jemand zu diesem Berg spricht: Hebe dich und wirf dich ins Meer!, und in seinem Herzen nicht zweifelt, sondern glaubt, dass das, was er sagt, geschieht, so wird ihm zuteilwerden, was immer er sagt.
24 Darum sage ich euch: Alles, was ihr auch immer im Gebet erbittet, glaubt, dass ihr es empfangt, so wird es euch zuteilwerden!
25 Und wenn ihr dasteht und betet, so vergebt, wenn ihr etwas gegen jemand habt, damit auch euer Vater im Himmel euch eure Verfehlungen vergibt.
26 Wenn ihr aber nicht vergebt, so wird auch euer Vater im Himmel eure Verfehlungen nicht vergeben.
Die Frage nach der Vollmacht Jesu
27 Und sie kamen wiederum nach Jerusalem. Und als er im Tempel umherging, traten die obersten Priester und die Schriftgelehrten und die Ältesten zu ihm
28 und sprachen zu ihm: In welcher Vollmacht tust du dies? Und wer hat dir diese Vollmacht gegeben, dies zu tun?
29 Jesus aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Auch ich will euch ein Wort fragen; wenn ihr mir antwortet, so will ich euch sagen, in welcher Vollmacht ich dies tue.
30 War die Taufe des Johannes vom Himmel oder von Menschen? Antwortet mir!
31 Und sie überlegten bei sich selbst und sprachen: Wenn wir sagen: Vom Himmel, so wird er fragen: Warum habt ihr ihm dann nicht geglaubt?
32 Wenn wir aber sagen: Von Menschen — da fürchteten sie das Volk; denn alle meinten, dass Johannes wirklich ein Prophet gewesen war.
33 Und sie antworten Jesus und sprachen: Wir wissen es nicht! Da erwiderte Jesus und sprach zu ihnen: So sage ich euch auch nicht, in welcher Vollmacht ich dies tue!
