Micah 1:6-14
New American Standard Bible 1995
6 For I will make Samaria a (A)heap of ruins [a]in the open country,
(B)Planting places for a vineyard.
I will (C)pour her stones down into the valley
And will (D)lay bare her foundations.
7 All of her (E)idols will be smashed,
All of her earnings will be burned with fire
And all of her images I will make desolate,
For she collected them from a (F)harlot’s earnings,
And to the earnings of a harlot they will return.
8 Because of this I must lament and wail,
I must go (G)barefoot and naked;
I must make a lament like the (H)jackals
And a mourning like the ostriches.
9 For her [b](I)wound is incurable,
For (J)it has come to Judah;
It has reached the (K)gate of my people,
Even to Jerusalem.
10 (L)Tell it not in Gath,
Weep not at all.
At [c]Beth-le-aphrah roll yourself in the dust.
11 [d]Go on your way, inhabitant of [e]Shaphir, in (M)shameful nakedness.
The inhabitant of [f](N)Zaanan does not [g]escape.
The lamentation of [h]Beth-ezel: “He will take from you its [i]support.”
12 For the inhabitant of [j]Maroth
Becomes weak (O)waiting for good,
Because a calamity has come down from the Lord
To the (P)gate of Jerusalem.
13 Harness the chariot to the team of horses,
O inhabitant of (Q)Lachish—
She was the beginning of sin
To the daughter of Zion—
Because in you were found
The (R)rebellious acts of Israel.
14 Therefore you will give parting (S)gifts
On behalf of Moresheth-gath;
The houses of (T)Achzib will become a (U)deception
To the kings of Israel.
