39 (A)And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, (B)the very stones would cry out.”
Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem
41 (C)And when he drew near and saw the city, (D)he wept over it, 42 saying, (E)“Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now (F)they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For (G)the days will come upon you, when your enemies (H)will set up a barricade around you and (I)surround you and hem you in on every side 44 (J)and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And (K)they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know (L)the time of your (M)visitation.”
Jesus Cleanses the Temple
45 (N)And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, 46 saying to them, “It is written, (O)‘My house shall be a house of prayer,’ but (P)you have made it a den of robbers.”
47 (Q)And he was teaching daily in the temple. (R)The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people were seeking to destroy him, 48 but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were hanging on his words.

40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”(B)
41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it(C) 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.(D) 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls.(E) They will not leave one stone on another,(F) because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming(G) to you.”
Jesus at the Temple(H)
45 When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. 46 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer’[a];(I) but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’[b]”(J)
47 Every day he was teaching at the temple.(K) But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.(L) 48 Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.

16 The plans of the heart belong to man,
but (A)the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
2 (B)All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
but the Lord (C)weighs the spirit.[a]
3 (D)Commit your work to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.
4 (E)The Lord has made everything for its purpose,
even (F)the wicked for the day of trouble.
5 Everyone who is arrogant in heart is (G)an abomination to the Lord;
(H)be assured, he will not go unpunished.
6 By (I)steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for,
and by (J)the fear of the Lord one (K)turns away from evil.
7 When a man's ways please the Lord,
(L)he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 (M)Better is a little with righteousness
than great revenues with injustice.
9 (N)The heart of man plans his way,
but (O)the Lord establishes his steps.
10 (P)An oracle is on the lips of a king;
his mouth does not sin in judgment.
11 (Q)A just balance and scales are the Lord's;
all the weights in the bag are his work.
12 It is an abomination to kings to do evil,
for (R)the throne is established by righteousness.
13 (S)Righteous lips are the delight of a king,
and he loves him who speaks what is right.
14 (T)A king's wrath is a messenger of death,
and a wise man will (U)appease it.
15 (V)In the light of a king's face there is life,
and his (W)favor is like (X)the clouds that bring the spring rain.
16 (Y)How much better to get wisdom than (Z)gold!
To get understanding is to be chosen rather than (AA)silver.
