³³So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

³³So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not [carefully consider the cost and then for My sake] ^[a]give up all his own possessions.

Luke 14:33 Jesus probably is referring to a willingness and commitment to do so when necessary. Discipleship does not require poverty.
