    are ·now starving [^Ldesolate] in the streets.
People who ·grew up [were nurtured] ·wearing nice clothes [^Lin purple/or crimson; ^Cexpensive clothes often associated with royalty]
    now ·pick through [cling to] ·trash piles [ash heaps; 1 Sam. 2:8; Job 2:8; Ps. 113:7].
