John 7:38-44

³⁸ Whoever believes in me, ^(A)as^[a] the Scripture has said, ^(B)‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of ^(C)living water.’” ³⁹ Now ^(D)this he said about the Spirit, ^(E)whom those who believed in him were to receive, ^(F)for as yet the Spirit had not been ^(G)given, ^(H)because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Division Among the People

⁴⁰ When they heard these words, ^(I)some of the people said, “This really is ^(J)the Prophet.” ⁴¹ Others said, “This is ^(K)the Christ.” But some said, ^(L)“Is the Christ to come from Galilee? ⁴² Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes ^(M)from the offspring of David, and comes ^(N)from Bethlehem, the village ^(O)where David was?” ⁴³ So there was ^(P)a division among the people over him. ^44 (Q)Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.
